An Bord Pleanála has given the green light to plans by Dublin GAA club Parnell’s to kick off a massive €30 million development of its facilities.
The club, located in Coolock Village in Dublin 5, will soon feature “state-of-the-art†facilities including a new clubhouse and changing rooms, gym, function room and bar, purpose-built sports hall, hurling wall, two full-sized floodlit pitches and a three-quarter length, all-weather floodlit pitch for juveniles.
Officials from Parnell’s, the club which produced current Dublin Goal Keeper and All-Star Stephen Cluxton, say the move will be a welcome addition to the community.
“We are absolutely delighted,” said club chairman Frank Gleeson. “It’s a good, speedy decision from An Bord Pleanála and it also gives us the green light to proceed now – at a time when jobs and the development of sports facilities would be very welcome in the local area.â€
He continued, “We are in a position now where we can go out to tender fairly quickly, probably by the end of June, and we hope to start construction by the end of August.”
