Late fitness test for Duff

Damien Duff will undergo a late fitness test ahead of the Europa League final in Hamburg tonight

Damien Duff will undergo a late fitness test ahead of the Europa League final in Hamburg with positive signs for the winger to start tonight.

The Ireland international has been a doubt for the final after picking up a leg muscle injury against Stoke last week but Fulham manager Roy Hodgson is confident that both Duff, and Bobby Zamora, will be in the reckoning to feature against Atletico Madrid.

“I’ve been given no indication that they’re suffering from a reaction so my hope is that they’ll be available” said Hodgson after the teams final run-out.

Zamora has been struggling with an Achilles injury but it is expected that Hodgson will leave it until the last minute to make a decision on whether to start the striker or spring him from the bench.

Duff has been a key player on Fulham’s road to a European final – playing both legs of the last four ties in the competition.

If the Cottagers are to lift the trophy tonight it will be the first piece of silverware for the club in 131 years.
