Ospreys and Ireland wing Tommy Bowe has won a second Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Players’ Player of the Year award.

Bowe has previously won the award in 2008 and picked up the top accolade at the eighth annual Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Awards last night.

“This is the second time I’ve received this Players’ Player award and I’m absolutely thrilled, it’s great to be recognised by the other players especially when you’re playing overseas,” Bowe said after accepting his award.

The retiring Leinster and Ireland full-back, Girvan Dempsey, was inducted into the Hall of Fame and Connacht’s Fionn Carr picked up the IRUPA Nature Valley Young Player of the Year.

Leinster and Ireland international, Jamie Heaslip, was voted the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Supporters’ Player of the Year by listeners of Newstalk106-108 fm.

The O2 Team of the Decade (2000-2009) was also announced at the awards with many Irish rugby heroes included. The team is as follows:

The pack: Marcus Horan, Keith Wood, John Hayes, Malcolm O’Kelly, Paul O’Connell, Alan Quinlan, David Wallace, Anthony Foley.
