David Beckham presented England’s FIFA World Cup 2018 bid to FIFA chiefs in Zurich this morning.
Nine candidates are bidding to host the competition including Australia, Russia and a joint Dutch-Belgian bid among the runners.
Beckham will not feature for England in South Africa next month due to injury but the football icon played his part for the future of the nation’s reputation this morning when delivering the 1,752-page bid book.
“We have a lot of passion; football is something which runs through our veins,” said Beckham, who handed over the book to Fifa president Sepp Blatter.
The hosts for the 2018 and 2022 World Cup’s will be announced on 2 December.
