Ireland’s vaccination programme is “the envy of Europe”, according to Stephen Donnelly.

There have been 443 new cases of Covid-19 reported in Ireland, as Health Minister Stephen Donnelly confirmed that nearly four million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country.

The figures released from the Department of Health on Saturday did not contain information regarding deaths related to Covid-19.

The Department of Health’s statement said that the number of daily cases may also change due to future data validation.

43 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 13 are in ICU.

In a video posted to Twitter on Saturday, Donnelly said that nearly four million doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland, which he called “phenomenal”.

He said: “Our vaccination programme, it’s fair to say, is the envy of Europe – people getting vaccinated as quickly as supplies arrive.”

Chairperson of the Covid-19 Vaccination Task Force Professor Brian MacCraith also revealed on Twitter that more than two in five adults, equating to over 1.5 million, are now fully vaccinated.

According to MacCraith, 2.45 million adults have received their first dose, with more than 3.9 million doses administered so far.

He also said the number of vaccine doses administered exceeded 50,000 on each of the past four days.
