Tiger Woods will deliver on his original promise following the confirmation that he will play in The Open at St Andrews in July.
The world number one is still recovering from an inflamed joint in his neck which forced him out of the Players’ Championship over a week ago but is expected to make a full recovery in time to compete.
Woods is bidding to become the first player to win The Open for a third time. The 34-year-old became champion firstly in 2000, and again in 2005.
Woods has played in three competitions following the sex scandal which provoked a five-month break from the game, including a disappointing appearance in the US Masters at Augusta.
