The focus of JOE’s daily bets on Tuesday goes on the Millwall-Huddersfield play-off semi-final and racing from Towcester.
The 6.10 at Towcester looks an ordinary maiden hurdle and one that catches the eye is Murcar. A useful 73-rated handicapper on the flat, Murcar travelled very well for a long way in a better race than this at Aintree last time. Admittedly he finished that race very weakly casting stamina doubts for a stiff track like Towcester. However, as he was an early faller on his previous start, this was effectively his first run since October and he may have needed the run.
Murcar was a stayer on the flat and possesses an abundance of stamina on the dam’s side of his pedigree. Provided he settles a bit better today stamina should not be an issue. In a race where there may be very little pace on, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him make all under excellent conditional jockey Giles Hawkins.
Later on tonight the second semi-final of the League One play-offs reaches its climax as Millwall welcome Huddersfield Town to the New Den.
The south London venue is a hostile environment at the best of times and the atmosphere is sure to be ramped up another level or two tonight, so expect the Lions to take victory. No-one had a better defensive record than Millwall in the division this season and a 2-0 correct score bet is attractive at 13/2.
JOE’s Daily Double: Murcar (Towcester, 6.10 @ 2/1) & Millwall to beat Huddersfield 2-0 (13/2)
