There have been 1,414 new cases of Covid-19 reported in Ireland on Friday (3 September).

As of 8am on Friday, 353 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 55 are in ICU.

At the same time on Thursday, 343 Covid-19 patients were hospitalised.

Earlier on Friday, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly provided an update on Ireland’s Covid-19 vaccination programme.

As of Thursday night, 6,871,433 doses have been administered in the country, with 3.4 million people now fully vaccinated against the virus.

According to the Minister, 87.8% of those 16 and over are fully vaccinated, with almost three-quarters of the total population now having received at least one dose.

“We’re on our way to hitting around 7 million doses administered and that really is amazing,” the Health Minister said.

“Thanks to all of you who came forward for vaccination and continue to do so.”
