Man arrested on suspicion of murder after fatal assault of woman in Dublin

A body was discovered in the early hours of Thursday morning.

A man has been arrested following the discovery of a woman’s body in a Dublin apartment on Thursday morning, 4 November.

Gardaí are investigating all circumstances surrounding a fatal assault that occurred at the apartment in Charlestown, Finglas.

Members of An Garda Síochána attended the scene at approximately 6.15am on Thursday, gaining entrance to the premises.

The body of a woman aged in her 30s was subsequently discovered, having sustained fatal injuries.

At the time of writing on Thursday morning, Gardaí have preserved the scene for a technical examination.

The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be carried out later in the day.

A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He has been taken to Finglas Garda Station where he is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Investigations are ongoing.
