American cyclist Floyd Landis has admitted that he used performance-enhancing drugs and has accused fellow cyclist Lance Armstrong of systematic doping.

In a report published in today’s Wall Street Journal the details of emails sent by Landis, who was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France title, to cycling authorities and sponsors are revealed.

Landis has lifted the lid on the doping scandal even further by claiming that other US cyclists used steroids and a synthetic blood booster called erythropoietin (EPO).

In the emails the shamed cyclist alleges that Armstrong’s coach Johan Bruyneel introduced Landis to steroid patch and blood doping and also claims that the legendary Armstrong explained the doping process to him.

“He and I had lengthy discussions about it on our training rides during which time he also explained to me the evolution of EPO testing and how transfusions were now necessary due to the inconvenience of the new test,” Landis wrote in one of the emails.

Landis was banned from racing for two years after failing his drug test and made his return in January 2009.
