A man and a woman have been arrested as part of the investigation into the incident.
A man has been taken to hospital following a serious assault that occurred in the early hours of Sunday (13 February) in Dublin.
The attack occurred in the Upper Gardiner Street area of Dublin 1.
The victim was taken to the Mater Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Scenes of Crime investigators attended and conducted an examination on the area.
A man (aged in his 30s) and a woman (aged in her 20s) have been arrested as part of this investigation.
They are both currently detained at Mountjoy Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Gardiner Street area, between 2:45am and 3:30am on Sunday that has information about this incident to come forward.
