Man dies and another seriously injured after stabbing in Cork

A man has since been arrested.

Gardaí are investigating a fatal stabbing incident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday (26 March) at a house in Cork.

At approximately 3.30am, Gardaí were called to the scene of a serious assault in Sea View Avenue in Carrigaline where a 27-year-old man was discovered with serious stab wounds.

Gardaí and emergency services attended to the man but he died at the scene.

At the time of writing on Saturday morning, the body remains at the scene which is currently preserved.

The State Pathologist has been notified.

Meanwhile, a second man, aged 75, attended Cork University Hospital with serious stab wounds and remains in a serious condition.

A Garda spokesperson said a 42-year-old man has since been arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Gurranabraher Garda Station.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the areas of Carrigaline and Passage West in the early hours of Saturday and who may have noticed any activity which caught their attention to contact Togher Garda station on 021 4947120, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Investigations into the fatal stabbing are ongoing.
