The seized cocaine has an estimated street value of €4,690,000.
Gardaí have arrested a man and seized over €4.5 million worth of cocaine after an operation in Dublin.
On Friday (3 June), as part of an ongoing investigation targeting serious organised criminal activity, Gardaí attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau stopped a vehicle in the Leopardstown area.
During the course of this operation, 67 kilogrammes of cocaine – with an estimated street value of €4,690,000 – were seized.
A man in his 20s was also arrested and is currently detained under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Dundrum Garda Station.
“The successful outcome to an operation undertaken by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, involving the seizure of cocaine with a street sale value close to €5 million, reflects the Garda Síochána’s determination to dismantle organised crime groups that trade in drugs,” Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll said in a statement.
A Garda spokesperson also said that investigations into the seizure are ongoing.
