The movie itself has an 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

On the hunt for something to watch this Thursday night.

Well, Amazon Prime Video has just added a whopping 54 huge movies to its library.

However, if none of these are for you, here’s what is on the telly this evening.

Judy – BBC Four – 9pm

Our pick for tonight is this 2019 biographical drama based on the life of American actress Judy Garland (played by Renée Zellweger).

Specifically, the movie mostly centres around Garland during the last year of her life when she took her stage career to the UK, which is juxtaposed with flashbacks to her teenage years filming her most iconic role as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.

Anchored by an emotional and transformative central turn by Zellweger, who took home a second Oscar for the role, Judy has an 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Magnum Force – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Having recommended crime thriller Dirty Harry earlier this week, Magnum Force is its first of four sequels.

Midway – Film4 – 9pm

A not very good but yet still watchable World War II drama from Independence Day director Roland Emmerich.

Women in Love – Great! Movies Classic – 9pm

Iconic British filmmaker Ken Russell adapts the famous D.H. Lawrence novel.

Rupture – Horror Channel – 9pm

This sci-fi horror sees Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Prometheus) play a woman who tries to break free from a mysterious organisation that has abducted her.

Predator – ITV4 – 10pm

Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in the first and best of the legendary sci-fi action horror series which celebrates its 35th anniversary this weekend.

Young Plato: The Philosophy Boys of Ardoyne – RTÉ One – 10.15pm

This documentary about a principal at a Belfast primary school who tries teaching his students about philosophy has a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

A Star is Born – BBC Four – 10.50pm

Speaking of Judy Garland, she stars opposite James Mason in this 1954 version of the showbiz story that was recently remade by Bradley Cooper.

Overlord – Film4 – 11.50pm

This well-reviewed 2018 action-horror follows several American soldiers who are dropped behind enemy lines during World War II and discover secret Nazi experiments.
