Body of man recovered from Royal Canal in Dublin

An investigation has been opened.

Gardaí are investigating “all circumstances” following the recovery of the body of a man from the Royal Canal in Dublin.

The body was taken from the water of the canal at Ballybough Bridge on Sunday afternoon (21 August) at approximately 12.30pm.

The deceased was later removed from the scene and taken to the City Morgue in Whitehall, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to be carried out in due course.

A technical examination of the scene has been conducted by Garda personnel.

Gardaí have issued an appeal to anyone who may have witnessed anything unusual in the area or who may be able to assist them to contact Mountjoy Garda Station on 01 666 8600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

Investigations are ongoing.
