Maradona v Messi

Who’s the greatest of all time? For a generation, it’s been a straight fight between Diego Maradona and Pele. Until this season, and Lionel Messi’s unstoppable ascent towards greatness.

And now Diego has joined the discussion declaring that Messi is better than he was at the 1986 World Cup, when he almost single-handedly carried Argentina to glory.

The Messi v Maradona debate is probably the only one to have been brought up in pub conversation more often than is-that-barmaid-worth-a-length?

It’s a tough one which, basically, we can’t give you an answer to. What we can do however, is bring you some clips of the two in action.

This is the type of goal that just gets better with every view. Some would rather piss and moan about the ‘Hand of God’ goal scored earlier in the game – but there is no getting away from the fact that Maradona deserved to finish on the winning team for this effort.
