Ireland’s out-halfs will be holding their breath today ahead of coach Declan Kidney’s imminent decision on who will take to the field against the Barbarians in Thomond Park on Friday.

Jonathan Sexton and Ronan O’Gara are again hoping to secure the No 10 jersey and whoever starts against the Baa-baas will be in pole position to retain the jersey for Ireland’s tour to New Zealand and Australia.

A number of Leinster players are expected to be rested after their Magners League final defeat to the Ospreys.

Ireland will be flying out to begin their tour in New Zealand on Saturday, although among those left out due to injury include Paul O’Connell, Stephen Ferris, Denis Leamy and Luke Fitzgerald.
