Elderly woman dies following crash with e-scooter in Dublin

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

An elderly woman has died in hospital following a collision with an e-scooter in Dublin.

The woman, in her 80’s, was struck by the scooter on Tuesday, June 20th, before ultimately succumbing to her injuries.

The incident occurred in the North Inner City on Eccles Street at approximately 3 pm, close to the Mater Private Hospital.

A post-mortem will now take place, following the launching of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death by An Garda Síochána.

A man has already been arrested in relation to the incident. He was detained at a North Dublin Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The man has since been released, with a file being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Speaking about the woman’s death, a Garda spokesperson said;

“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward”.

“Any road users who were travelling in the area with camera footage (including dash cam), is asked to make this available to the investigation team”.
