Chelsea and France forward Nicolas Anelka came through an unusual injury scare after he crashed during a mountain biking trip at his country’s World Cup training camp.
France are currently holed up on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion in the run-up to the start of the World Cup in South Africa and the accident took place towards the end of a 50-minute bike tour of the country.
The former Arsenal player is believed to have lost his balance on a wet patch of road as the players raced against each other.
Anelka however, who has started both of his country’s last two games, was unhurt by the crash.
He is now clear to play against China on Friday in what will be France’s last game before the finals in South Africa.
