38-year-old Cuban boxer Joel Casamayor has pledged to “knock Amir Khan out dead†if plans for a bout between the two fighters come to fruition.
The Cuban, who has a record of 37-4 with 22 knock-outs, has held world titles in two divisions during his illustrious career, but some have suggested he is now past his prime.
However, Casamayor believes he has more than enough about him to defeat junior welterweight champion Amir Khan if the pair meet in the ring.
According to Casamayor’s manager Luis DeCubas, the Khan flight is in the final stages of planning and could take place on 31 June in England.
Casamayor has agreed to fight and pledged to pull off a win similar to that enjoyed by Breidis Prescott who knocked out the champion on 54 seconds back in 2008.
The Cuban former Gold medal winner told BoxingScene.com, “Come July 31 lighting is going to strike twice because I’m going to knock Amir Khan out dead.â€
He continued, “I want to let the people know that I am up for this fight.â€
“I’m a four-time world champ in two weight classes. Amir Khan has done nothing… and come July 31st I’m going to prove that he’s a nobody.â€
