The Epsom Oaks is the highlight of the day on Friday but we’ve a pick from elsewhere on the card. And we’re also looking at Ireland-Barbarians in rugby.
It’s a big day in racing with the Oaks and the Coronation Cup at Epsom but for our racing pick we’re looking elsewhere on the card and ANTINORI in the 1m2f handicap for older horses at 3.25.
This horse, trained by Godolphin’s new training star Mahmood Al-Zarooni (above), produced a very impressive performance last time in Dubai. Settled in last place, he was given a supremely confident ride, travelling powerfully and scything through the field to beat a decent field including Kal Barg, who subsequently landed another hot Meydan handicap.
Antinori looked a group horse in the making that day  and if he’s ready to show his best today following a three month break,h e should be hard to beat off a mark just six pounds higher.
Meanwhile, a largely second-string Ireland side, particularly in the forwards where coach Declan Kidney has handed three players their first caps, takes to the field against the Barbarians at Thomond Park tonight.
However, you shouldn’t underestimate the Irish boys, who’ll have plenty to play for with the forthcoming tour to New Zealand and Australia in mind.
Our preview reckons Ireland could have ten points in hand of the Baa-Baas by full-time, so go for AN IRISH WIN BY 6-10 POINTS on the night.
JOE’s Daily Double: Ireland to beat Barbarians by 6-10 points (7/1) & Antinori (Epsom, 3.25 @ 7/1)
