Italian cyclist Pietro Caucchioli has been given a two-year suspension and a fine for failing a doping test.
Caucchioli has become the second rider to be banned under the ruling of the International Cycling Union’s biological passport programme, according to a BBC Sport report.
Francesco De Bonis was suspended last week for doping under the UCI programme which was introduced in 2008.
Caucchioli’s punishment has been handed down by the Italian National Olympic Committee. It is not the first time the Italian has been linked to doping scandals. He was suspended by his Lampre team last year after it was revealed he was showing abnormal values in the system.
