Legendary US multi platinum-selling rockers Pearl Jam make a whistlestop visit to Dublin as part of the European leg of their current world tour. The tickets for their show at the O2 on 22 June sold out long ago. But we’ve been handed one pair of tickets to give away.
Plus we’ve got three runner-up goodie bags including a t-shirt and a copy of their album in CD and vinyl form.
To be in with a chance of winning the tickets simply click on the link below. (When you click on the link you’ll be directed through to the Island records main website, and at the same time you’ll be sent an email letting you know you’ve been entered into the comp).
From the time they burst onto the scene in 1990 alongside fellow Seattle-based grunge pioneers Nirvana they’ve been ploughing their own furrow, refusing to make music videos and boycotting Ticketmaster along the way.
Their ninth album Backspacer was released last September and went straight into the US album chart at No.1. For the album they reunited with producer Brendan O’Brien, who had produced four of the band’s earlier albums and on the album Eddie Vedder and the boys were a band reborn. When they appeared on The Tonight Show in the States last year to play ‘Got Some’ from the album, their performance was watched by the highest viewing audience of any US chat show for five years.
“We started with songs, as opposed to just time booked in the studio,†says Vedder of the origins for Backspacer, which rattles through its twelve tracks in a sleek and sprightly 36 minutes, with rocket-fuelled urgency and laser-guided focus. “We had a momentum, and the songs were easy to write. It’s a real galvanized record, it has a tight form to it; its not loose, but rather tightly-orchestrated.â€
The next single to be release from Backspacer is ‘Amongst the Waves’ which is available in single form on 19 June.
Of course, you can always buy the whole album (and why wouldn’t you?) and you can do so by clicking here.
Oh, and you’ll need to hurry to enter this competition. The closing date is Wednesday 16 June.
