The ongoing baby scan scandal is still getting a lot of attention on the front pages – it’s a hole that keeps getting bigger.

Here’s how some of the main headlines read:

More mothers come forward to share their pain . . . and relief’ – The Irish Independent

‘HSE to review misdiagnosed miscarriages in last five years’ – The Irish Times

‘HSE “would be easier to run” without child care’ – The Irish Examiner

The Irish Independent is all over Brian Cowen this morning. ‘Cowen on rack over ‘homemade meltdown’ ,is the headline. They have sumarised the two banking reports revealed yesterday by saying, ‘The banking meltdown that cost taxpayers billions of euro was a result of “homemade” decisions and a government that thought “the party could last forever”, two official reports revealed yesterday.’

The fact that the property and banking meltdowns happened in practically every other country at the same time was obviously a coincidence so.

The Irish Times is also on about the reports released yesterday. ‘Reports blame domestic factors for banking and economic crisis’, is the headline. They also reckon that the banking crisis was due to errors made here rather than international financial volatility. They point the finger at the banking sector, the regulator, the Government, the Central Bank, the IMF and Thierry Henry.

The Irish Examiner has an interesting one on the front page. Apparently the head of the Health Service Executive (HSE) Brendan Drumm has indicated that the organisation would be easier to run if a separate body was tasked with looking after services for children in care. Get out of it. My job would be easier if I could hand over the whole writing stuff part of it to someone else. Suck it up Brendan.
