Pic of the Day
One day to go to the World Cup. The JOE team is finding it difficult to contain themselves.
Former Netherlands’ football star Johan Cruyff is interviewed by a journalist as he attends an exhibition match held by the current national side for the opening of the Johan Cruyff Court Foundation in Johannesburg on June 10, 2010. The Dutch face Denmark, Japan and Cameroon in the first round group stage of the South Africa 2010 World Cup football tournament.

Tonight’s Telly
Pick of the night: Come Dine with Me – Footballers Special, Channel 4, 9.00pm
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would select this irritating show as pick of the night. However, with World Cup fever at its peak, we are mopping up any football related shows. Neil Ruddock, John Fashanu, Carlton Palmer and Frank Worthington compete in the culinary challenge to win £1,000 for charity. Should be good craic.
Sporting highlight: World Cup Concert, RTE2, 7.00pm
To whet our appetites ahead of tomorrow’s kick-off we can tune in to three hours of a combined music and sporting bonanza, live from South Africa. Football stars past and present will introduce international acts such as the Black Eyed Peas, Shakira and Alicia Keys.
More TV: Rory Gallagher – Ghost Blues, RTE1, 10.15pm
If you couldn’t give a toss about the World Cup then tune into this documentary which examines Rory Gallagher’s contribution to the Irish rock movement.
Mood Swingometer
Today JOE has mostly been feeling…shabby.
Coughing, sneezing and spluttering. Some of the JOE team have it bad with colds and we just can’t shake them off.
We’re not the only ones though. JOE columnist Ray Foley has also been feeling under the weather and has been writing about what such a bad patient he is.

Eat your greens.
As ever, JOE endeavours to keep your health on an even keel and advise you on dietary issues.
This week’s magic ingredient comes from the greengrocers. We know you may hate the idea of gobbling down heaps of green vegetables but spare us a moment to read the health giving benefits of cabbage. Enjoy.
