The baby misdiagnosis story has still got legs on the front of the tabs this morning, although there is also room for news that Tubridy has landed the 2FM slot.

The Irish Daily Mail leads with, ‘Were defects misdiagnosed?’ Women are apparently flooding support groups with calls amid fears that they may have chosen to abort perfectly healthy babies after faulty scans showed what appeared to be birth abnormalities. This one is turning into a nightmare for quite a few families.

The paper’s first page also gives a nod to an interview they have done with Michael Flatley. ‘Niamh saved me from a life of chasing women and drinking until 6am’ is the headline. Jesus Christ Michael she saved you from the promised land mate.

The Irish Sun leads with ‘Ryan Line’s Open… Again.’ The story tells of how Gerry’s family are chuffed to bits that Ryan has been landed the 2FM slot. They also have a front page column reserved for the misdiagnosis story. ‘Babies scandal outrage’ is the headline. Apparently Harney has finally apologised for the debacle now that 19 women have come forward and another 300 have called the HSE helpline.

The Sun has a cracking story on page29 about how an Irish restaurant boss snubbed British royals Sophie and Edward during their visit to Rathlin Island. They were hoping to eat at his manor house restaurant but were forced to dine in the local boozer when he told them to sling it.

Anyway, he has hit back at accusations that he is a bigot for turning them away with some cracking quotes: “The problem was that we live here and they were going to come here and start searching through our things, through my wife’s underwear drawer.” Imagine having to eat in a pub like some sort of low-life commoner. Shocking!

The Irish News carries a bad news story for those of us living north of the border – apparently a ‘Double whammy’ is on the way. Queen’s University is pushing for a 66 per cent tuition fee increase while water charges are ‘now certain to be introduced’.
