The Ford Focus RS: hot or not?

Does the Ford Focus RS have kerbside appeal? We asked our panel of women. They spoke as one.

JOE

You pull up in your freshly polished motor. You’re feeling good – a man’s car is an extension of his personality. Curly-haired car-loving giant Jeremy Clarkson says it’s a decent set of wheels you’ve got there.

But hang on a minute, yer man Clarkson is something of an authority on how well cars drive, but look at the state of him. When it comes to kerbside appeal, we don’t care what Clarkson thinks. The heads we want to turn are of the female variety. We want to know what women think.

Unfortunately, our office is a woman free zone. Fortunately, we’ve noticed some women in the office next door.  And so began our quest. Bravely, if a little timidly, we introduced ourselves. Having ventured into their lair, we plucked up the courage to speak to three of them – Lucy, Mary and Jess. They agreed to look at our pictures of cars and answer a few questions.

This week’s car: Ford Focus RS

A man pulls up next to you driving this. Who would you expect to get out of the car? “A boy-racer definitely. Probably one that couldn’t fully afford it so maybe a bit of a spoilt brat.”

Think of this car as a man. Who is he? Flash Frank, Sensible Simon, Dull David? “Billy Brat.”

And if this car were a sportman/film actor, who would it be? “Gail Platt’s son in Coronation Street – David Platt.”

You’ve just been on a first date with a man who drives this car – will he be invited in for coffee? “God no, it’s probably past his curfew. And don’t even let him near the house, just run!”

Rate this car in terms of pulling power from 1 to 10: 1 being awful, 10 being terrific.

Lucy: 1, Mary: 1, Jess: 1

GRAND TOTAL: 3/30
