An Irish woman has died in Peru after a suspected hit and run incident.
The 35-year-old Irish national was reportedly hit by a bus which failed to stop following the incident in the city of Trujillo in the early hours of Monday, July 22.
The vehicle reportedly belonged to an ‘agro-industrial company’ and hit her while she was crossing the road.

Local media reported that the woman was working in the country as an English language teacher.
“The police have launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident,” a report of the incident said, per the Sunday World.
“The authorities have asked the public for any information that could help identify the driver of the vehicle and clarify the facts.
“This tragic event highlights the need for greater road safety and responsibility on the part of drivers.”
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement to JOE on Wednesday morning: “The Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
“As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of individual cases.”
