It’s the overflow from the weekend’s main story on the Monday Morning JOE – get Enda Kenny out of the Fine Gael leadership fast. And this message comes from his colleagues.
The Front Pages
Sources close to the Indo claim Enda Kenny’s right-hand man, Fine Gael deputy leader Richard Bruton, has lost all confidence in the leader of the party.
According to the report the leadership challenge “will play out over the next 48 hoursâ€. It’s hard to say we didn’t see this coming. An upcoming general election has been reiterated by Mr Kenny on too many occasions without any follow through and now the backbenchers are beginning to squirm.
The above picture shows the pair in happier times at a press briefing on Fine Gaels blueprint for political reform at the Merrion Hotel Dublin back in March.
The Irish Times also has a stab at it and leads with “Bruton seeks support of FG members as leadership bid boomsâ€.
Meanwhile, The Irish Examiner runs a story of ‘man-stuff’ interest. A €30 million redevelopment plan for Páirc Uà Chaoimh in Cork will be voted on by city councillors today. “Supporters of the proposed project include Cork GAA legend Jimmy Barry Murphy and Cork senior hurling captain Kieran Murphy.â€
Tales from the Tabs
A man has been detained and charged by police in Coventry after they allegedly found a tiger in his freezer.
The barmy story is detailed in The Daily Star and tells of Alan Dudley’s supposed trading in endangered animals. It is understood that police have found his garage and freezer packed with dead animals including lemurs, a Goeldi’s monkey, buzzards and owls.
“The remains of a chimpanzee, marmosets, and the skull of a baby seal were also apparently found in his garage.â€
The Sports Pages
It has been a crazy weekend in sport for JOE. The front and back pages are awash with stories from codes of all sorts.
The Indo gives Kerry a prominent splash on the front page with Kieren Donaghy in a rather erotic embrace, just like this one below, after the Kingdom defeated Cork in the Munster SFC semi-final replay after extra-time.

In World Cup news we have been intrigued by Argentina head coach Diego Maradona’s continuation of radical comments. First it was criticising the talent of Lionel Messi, then it was ironically calling for fai play and now the diminutive legend has laid his life on the line for his players, literally!
Maradona has been quoted as saying he would die for his players. “I am ready to die for those 23 men, for what they give me in training, for the conversations we have, for their heart, for their feeling for the shirt, for the fact they know how the people of Argentina feel.â€
