Gardaí are appealing for witnesses of the incident to come forward.
Gardaí have said they are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in his 30s.
This was after an incident on South Anne Street/Duke Lane Upper in Dublin 2 in the early hours of Saturday (15 February).
Shortly after 3.00am, Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident in the busy Dublin city centre area near Grafton Street where a man was found unresponsive and with serious injuries.
He was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel, before being transferred to hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later, a Garda spokesperson added.
A second man in the vicinity, also in his 30s, has been treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to various outlets, the man who died had been stabbed.
The Garda spokesperson also confirmed that a murder investigation has since begun and a Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed.
This is as Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
They are looking to speak to “any person who may have been present in the vicinity of South Anne Street/Duke Lane Upper, Dublin 2 between 2.45am and 3.30am this morning Saturday 15th February 2025”.
“Gardaí are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have information about any of these incidents or has any mobile phone footage recorded at the relevant locations,” the spokesperson said.
“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area or in the vicinity of Dawson Street and St. Stephens Green at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.”
