We need to get back amongst the winners so it’s a short-priced double for Tuesday’s bet.

The dogs have been barking in the streets about the possibility of a draw between Mexico and Uruguay in Group A’s final game. A point apiece will put both sides into the last 16 at the expense of South Africa and hopeless France, so it’s no surprise that the draw is priced up at odds-on.

If we’re going to err, it’ll be on the side of caution. It’s not really in MEXICO’s interest to play out a drab 0-0, as the prize for second place in the group is almost certain to be a date with Argentina in the second round. So we think they’ll be playing for the win – but back them at 4/6 in the Draw No Bet market just in case.

Later in the evening, we’re going for LADY SONGBIRD in Ballinrobe’s 1m1f handicap at 7.50.

Charlie Swan’s mare has been out of luck lately, not getting home in some of her races and finding traffic problems on other occasions. She is not an easy horse to win with, as the stats of two wins from 31 starts amply demonstrate.

However she does possess a nice turn of foot at her best. Dropped in grade and with the shorter distance of nine furlongs in her favour, Lady Songbird could strike this evening.

JOE’s Daily Double: Mexico to beat Uruguay (Draw No Bet market – 4/6) & Lady Songbird (Ballinrobe, 7.50 @ 4/1)
