There will be chants of USA! USA! USA! in the JOE household this afternoon as we go for the Yanks to run riot against Algeria.

The US reached the final of the Confederations Cup a year ago and while they’re taking time to find their feet in this tournament, they will be a danger to all if they can take the win they need to book a place in the knock-out stages.

England made Algeria look good last week but they’re arguably the weakest of a bad bunch of African sides and have taken a few tonkings already this year – including a 4-0 defeat to Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations and 3-0 to ourselves at the RDS.

We reckon the States, who were so impressive going forward in the second half against Slovenia the other day, will have too much in hand and they look well-priced in Paddy Power’s ONE-GOAL HANDICAP MARKET.

In racing, we’re looking at the middle-distance handicap at Carlisle at 3.35, where the preference is for HIGH AMBITION.

Richard Fahey’s seven-year-old was unlucky in running last time out and provided a little better fortune this time, the race should be run to suit his hold-up style.

Fahey has an exceptional record at Carlisle and a price of 13/2 looks fair about the son of High Estate.

JOE’s Daily Double: USA (-1 goal) to beat Algeria (13/5) & High Ambition (Carlisle, 3.35 @ 13/2)
