Fancy turning a tenner into €600? We’ve picks from Goodwood and Denmark’s must-win encounter with Japan that could do just that.

In racing we’re going no further than the opening race on the card at Goodwood, where WOODCOTE PLACE is our pick.

Woodcote Place caught the eye at Sandown two starts ago. In a decent contest won by Flora Trevelian, Patrick Chamings’s gelding travelled very strongly on the outside before fading in the final furlong. It looked that day that a drop back to seven furlongs was exactly what he needed. He was well backed subsequently at Goodwood but disappointed in finishing sixth behind today’s rivals Santefisio and Truism. However there was significant rain at Goodwood leading up to that race and the ground had softened. All Woodcote Place’s best form is on a sound surface and he’s worth a chance to atone today.

Later tonight, we’re focusing on the game between Denmark and Japan in World Cup Group E.

Denmark are behind the Japanese on goal difference so they need to win to go through, but we’ve been quite impressed by them so far in this tournament and reckon they can get the result they need.

Veteran forward JON-DAHL TOMASSON has scored 51 international goals and needs one more to equal Denmark’s national record. This could be his last game for his country if Denmark don’t win, so take him to open the scoring at an attractive 13/2.

JOE’s Daily Double: Woodcote Place (Goodwood, 2.00 @ 7/1) & Jon-Dahl Tomasson to score first (Denmark v Japan @ 13/2)
