Dublin will attempt to rejuvenate their All-Ireland challenge when they take on Tipperary in the second round of the All-Ireland football qualifiers next month.
The Dubs’ stranglehold on the Leinster Championship finally loosened on Sunday when Meath plundered five goals to run out 11-point victors at Croke Park.
Pat Gilroy’s men, also deeply unimpressive against Wexford first time out, will now attempt to rebuild in the qualifiers where they take on John Evans’s Tipperary in two weeks’ time.
Two of the teams who caused surprises of varying degrees on Sunday will face daunting assignments next time out. Longford’s prize for taking the scalp of Mayo is a meeting with Down, while Cavan, whose 13 men came from seven points down to knock out Wicklow, must take on Cork.
Two of the perceived weaker sides in the hat will go head-to-head as Offaly face Waterford, Westmeath take on Derry while there’s an all-Ulster clash between Fermanagh and Antrim.
Elsewhere, the winners of next weekend’s Antrim-Kildare replay will fancy their chances against Leitrim while Wexford take on the losers of the Connacht SFC semi-final replay between Galway and Sligo.
