A Conservative MP in the UK has demanded an inquiry into the England national team’s poor performance at the World Cup in South Africa.

David Amess, Conservative MP for Southend West, said on his website that he was so disgusted by England’s performance that he had filed a parliamentary motion.

“They let this country and their supporters down,” he said and he urged members of the House to “voice their great disappointment at England’s pathetic exit from the World Cup.”

He believed the players were “grossly overpaid and underperform.” Liberal Democrat MP Mike Hancock has backed Amess’ parliamentary motion.

Sepp Blatter has been highly critical of political meddling in football, and has threatened to ban the French team from intetnational football if their politicians did not stop interfering.
