Volkswagen wins Engine of the Year

The new Volkswagen 1.4-litre TSI engine has won the International Engine of the Year award at the recent International Industry Awards Ceremony in Stuttgart.

Volkswagen also claimed the 1 to 1.4 litre engine category award. These accolades come on the back of a very successful period for Volkswagen, receiving a host of top awards including World Green Car of the Year for the Volkswagen BlueMotion models and World and European Car of the Year for the Volkswagen Polo.

Head of Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen Ireland, Adam Chamberlain, commented, “To receive this top accolade two years running is a huge honour for Volkswagen and testament to the quality and ingenuity of our team of experts, who consistently produce more advanced and fuel efficient engines. Dean Slavnich, editor of Engine Technology International and co-chair of the 72-strong international judging panel of motoring journalists, commented, “It is a fantastic achievement for Volkswagen to have won the award for a second consecutive year, and it demonstrates that engine downsizing is very much here to stay.
