Rafael Nadal and Tomas Berdych will contest Sunday’s men’s singles final at Wimbledon following straight sets victories in Friday’s semi-finals.

Nadal got the better of British number one Andy Murray in straight sets (6-4 7-6 6-4) on an anti-climactic day for the home crowd at SW19.

The turning point came in the second set tie-break when Murray, serving with a set-point to make it 1-1, was pegged back.

The Spaniard, who had twice been taken to five sets in the earlier rounds, subsequently recovered from a break down in the third set to secure a relatively comfortable passage to Sunday’s showpiece.

Twelfth seed Berdych had earlier cruised into the final of the men’s singles at Wimbledon after a straight sets victory over Novak Djokovic.

The 24-year-old Czech Republic native defeated the Serb on a scoreline of 6-3 7-6 6-3 in a match which took just over two hours on Centre Court.

For Berdych, who defeated six-time champion Roger Federer in the quarter-final on Wednesday, Sunday’s final will be a first Grand Slam decider of his career.
