Paulo Sousa is set to take charge of English Championship side Leicester City, after his old club Swansea agreed compensation.

Sousa left Swansea by mutual consent yesterday, and is expected to be unveiled as Nigel Pearson’s replacement sometime today. Pearson, who guided Leicester to an impressive fifth place finish last year, left to join recently relegated Hull City last week.

A statement on Leicester City’s website read: “Following his release by mutual consent with Swansea City FC, Leicester City confirm that they have initiated talks with Paulo Sousa in regards to the vacant manager’s job.”

Sousa, who was capped 51 times for Portugal, lead Swansea to a seventh place finish last season and earned praise for playing attractive football. Leicester will be his third Championship manager’s post in less than three years – his first English managerial post was with QPR in 2008.
