Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is rumoured to have launched a £25million bid for Inter Milan and Holland wizard Wesley Sneijder.
Sneijder is on course for the Ballon D’Or title after leading the Italian club to a treble, including the Champions League crown, and spearheading Holland’s march to the World Cup semi-finals.
The 26-year-old cost Inter £13million from Real Madrid last summer but United could be expected to pay almost twice as much 12 months.
Sneijder could be one of a number of players to leave the San Siro this summer following the departure of coach Jose Mourinho to Real Madrid.
Brazil full back Maicon and striker Mario Balotelli are the other players set to quit the club, although underemployed Argentina striker Diego Milito is expected to sign a new deal.
