Uruguayan World Cup star Diego Forlan has ruled himself out of a move to Tottenham Hotspur or any other Premier League club.

Forlan had been strongly linked to the North London club, with manager Harry Redknapp publicily declaring an interest. The 31 year old centre forward has quashed those rumours, however, by declaring that he has no intention of leaving Spain.

“Tottenham are a club who are going in the right direction but I have no interest in joining the Premier League with any club,” he told English newspapers.

“For a start, Spain is much hotter and also it is my home now.”

“We have some very exciting young players and I am excited for the season. I will never play in England again but I still actually look back with fond memories at some moments.”

Forlan had previously spent two years at Manchester United. Since leaving Alex Ferguson’s side he has scored nearly 150 goals for Villarreal and Atletico Madrid.
