Albania international Lorik Cana has left Premier League side Sunderland to join Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Cana had spent just one season at the Stadium of Light having joined the Black Cats in a £5m move from Marseilles last summer.

The 26-year-old was immediately appointed to the club captaincy and won over the Sunderland supporters with a series of wholehearted displays from midfield.

However, his stay on Wearside has proved to be short-lived after the club accepted a bid of €6m from Gala.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce said, “Lorik’s style of play and attitude made him a natural choice as captain last season, but when he came back for pre-season training, it was apparent that he had a desire to return to Europe.”
