It has been confirmed that England’s Howard Webb has been chosen to referee this year’s World Cup final.
Webb, a 38-year-old former police officer, has officiated three World Cup matches so far and is yet to show a red card or give a penalty.
He will be assisted in the final by Darren Cann and Mike Mullarkey, who were Webb’s assistants for the this season’s Champions League final between Internazionale and Bayern Munich.
The final will be between Spain and the Netherlands, and will take place in Johannesburg’s Soccer City stadium this Sunday.
Kick-off will be at 7.30pm.
