British cyclist Mark Cavendish was victorious in the fifth stage of this year’s Tour de France, after an exciting conclusion in Montargis.
The HTC Columbia man defeated Milram’s Gerald Ciolek in a sprint finish, while Edvald Boasson Hagen of Team Sky came in third.
Switzerland’s Fabian Cancellara still retains the yellow jersey, after finishing safely in the leading pack.
He retains a 23 second lead over Britain’s Geraint Thomas, while Australian Cadel Evans is a further 16 seconds back.
Mark Cavendish’s victory has moved up him four places to 107th, nine minutes and eleven seconds behind Cancellara.
