Fulham have rejected Arsenal’s first formal offer for Mark Schwarzer, believed to be in the region of £3m, according to Sky Sports News.
Wenger has targeted the 37-year-old Australian has been targeted as a replacement for Manuel Almunia, who is out of favour at Arsenal and looks set to be offloaded.
Rumours had circulated earlier this morning that Schwarzer had already completed a medical at the Emirates.
The player is still on his holidays, however, after playing for Australia in the World Cup, but is believed to be interested in a move to the North London club.
Fulham have been linked with free agent David James as a replacement.
Schwarzer was named as Fulham’s player of the year in 2008-2009, and was the Barclay’s Premier League player of the month for February 2010.
