Pic of the Day (above)
No, Susan Boyle hasn’t fallen over. A pair of 6-foot-tall ruby red slippers were yesterday unveiled outside Madame Tussauds New York in Times Square to celebrate the launch of ‘The Wizard of Oz Cinema 4D Experience’ and the interactive ‘Land of Oz ‘ exhibit at the museum in New York. Those red pumps are to die for, sister.
Mood Swingometer
Today JOE has been feeling…soaked.
It’s July right? So why will it not stop raining?! After the uncontrollable mudfest that was Oxegen 2010, the Irish ‘summer’ has well and truly packed its bags and hopped off, seemingly forever. Yes it’s cliché to complain about the weather – particularly in Ireland, but it’s July and we’re wearing wellies. JOE’s pledge, right here and now, is that that if we’re not riding a donkey, eating ice-cream, while wearing a straw hat (us and the donkey) this time next week, expect continuous harping on this subject till we can leave the house in our trusty socks and sandals.
Tonight’s Telly
Pick of the night: Dragon’s Den, BBC2, 9:00pm.
The best form of reality TV is always when hapless victims are taunted and have their hopes shaterred by cruel millionaires, rather than shows where the joke is on the viewer instead (The Hills, Big Brother, UK Living’s entire channel). So let’s all rejoice for BBC’s venerable Dragon’s Den returning tonight, with useless inventions, smug ‘dragons’, and that creepy bald host who lives underneath the set all expected to make an appearence. Essential viewing.
Movie pick: Munich, Sky Movies Screen One, 8:00pm.
Matt Damon first collaboration with British director Paul Greengrass, tonight’s movie pick is The Bourne Supremacy, arguably the finest chapter in the thriller series. If you haven’t seen the first installment yet you won’t be too confused – Bourne runs, punches people, looks confused, and ultimately battles his greatest enemy of all – Greengrass’ notorious shaky-cam during action scenes. If you’re prone to motion sickness watch out, as the director really likes to take the viewer to the heart of the action set pieces. Altogether great fun with an inspired turn from a villainous Brian Cox.
