Australia out half Quade Cooper had a burglary charge against him dropped, after no evidence against him was produced in court by police.

The 22-year old, who plays for the Queensland Reds, was arrested last year after allegedly stealing two laptops from a house in the Australian resort  of Surfers Paradise.

“I want to thank everyone who’s helped me during what has been a challenging time, particularly family and close friends,” Cooper said. “I’m glad I can now just concentrate on playing well for Australia.”

Only last month, Cooper had been fined A$400 (£227) and banned from the road for six months after driving without a license.

He has 14 caps for the Wallabies, and is expected to start Australia’s opening Tri-Nations clash with South Africa next week in Brisbane.
