League of Ireland champions Bohemians will face Belgian kingpins Anderlecht in the third qualifying round of the Champions League if they can close out a victory over TNS of Wales next week.
Bohs take a 1-0 first leg lead to Shropshire on Tuesday following their victory at Dalymount Park earlier this week courtesy of a solitary goal from Killian Brennan (pictured).
Should Pat Fenlon’s side come through unscathed, they will take on Anderlecht over two games on 27/28 July and 3/4 August.
Belgian aristocrats Anderlecht secured their 30th domestic title in May, coasting home 18 points clear of Gent and Club Brugge.
The Brussels side won three European trophies between 1976 and 1983 and while their stock has slipped in line with the Belgian national team in the intervening decades, they still boast a vastly experienced squad, with players such as Jan Polak, the holder of 50 caps with the Czech Republic, Poland regular Marcin Wasilewski and five Belgium internationals including club captain Olivier Deschacht and Romelu Lukaku, the 17-year-old who scored 15 goals in his debut campaign last time, has been labelled as “The New Drogba” and is seen as a target for Drogba’s current club Chelsea.
