All-Blacks drop Ranger for Wallabies encounter

Rene Ranger and Liam Messam have been omitted from New Zealand’s squad to face Australia in the Tri-Nations next week in Melbourne.

Rene Ranger and Liam Messam have been omitted from New Zealand’s squad to face Australia in the Tri-Nations in Melbourne on 31 July.

Winger Ranger, who celebrated his first All-Black start with a try in their 31-17 demolition of South Africa, has been replaced in the squad by Joe Rokocoko (pictured).

Victor Vito has recovered from an injury to his calf, and replaces flanker Messam.

New Zealand Squad to face Australia:

Backs: Dan Carter, Jimmy Cowan, Aaron Cruden, Israel Dagg, Cory Jane, Mils Muliaina, Ma’a Nonu, Joe Rokocoko, Conrad Smith, Benson Stanley, Piri Weepu, Alby Mathewson.

Forwards: John Afoa, Anthony Boric, Tom Donnelly, Corey Flynn, Ben Franks, Owen Franks, Jerome Kaino, Richie McCaw, Keven Mealamu, Kieran Read, Brad Thorn, Victor Vito, Samuel Whitelock, Tony Woodcock.
