Liverpool have completed the signing of England international Joe Cole on a four-year deal.
Cole had been released by Chelsea at the end of last season following seven years at Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year-old is effectively Roy Hodgson’s first signing since taking charge at Anfield last month, with Serbian winger Milan Jovanovic having agreed a move to Merseyside before the manager’s appointment.
Cole made more than 280 first-team appearances for Chelsea after moving to the west London club from West Ham in 2003 but arrives at Liverpool with a point to prove having struggled for form and fitness in his last season at Stamford Bridge and been unable to exert any influence during England’s World Cup campaign in South Africa.
