French motor manufacter’s Peugeot have just announced the best half-year performance ever recorded in the company’s 200-year history – an increase of 16.7% in the first half of 2010.
Just what is the secret to Peugeot’s success – flying cars, hoverboards even? Apparently not, as the company’s latest reports suggest success in Europe, with the launch of the 3008 (65,000 units), 5008 (40,000 units) and the new Peugeot RCZ sports couple (5,000 sales since May) have been the key attributors to Peugeot’s dramatic sales increase.
The manufacturers 16.7% 2010 six-month increase is far ahead of the global market growth of 13%, and has led to 1,093,000 Peugeot units sold in the first six months of the year. Peugeot have also gained two market place positions in Europe, from 6th to 4th in the rank of vehicle manufacturers. Outside of Europe, the company continued its success with a sales growth of 42%.
For us Irish, Peugeot registrations have increased by 51.8% up to the end of June, no doubt helped by the Peugeot 3008’s Continental Irish Car of the Year 2010 accolade, and the arrival of the recently-launched 7-Seater MPV.
The French motoring company is looking to continue their stonking 2010 performance thus far into the second half of the year – with the upcoming Latin America launch of the 408, the all-electric iOn in September, and the unveiling of the 508 range and 3008 diesel hybrid at October’s Paris Motor Show.
